Transition to Twos

Is your curious toddler transitioning from baby to child? Transition to Twos nurtures this exciting time in your child's development through books, movement, music and rhymes. We'll begin learning to play with others, wait turns, and listen to stories, as well as dance, sing, laugh and have fun! This storytime is designed specifically for caregivers and children 18 months to 30 months.

TinkerTime - Intro to ZOOB!

ZOOB is an award-winning building set with a difference—the pieces move after you put them together. So you can play with your creations, instead of just looking at them. ZOOB is all about exploring, inventing, and discovering how you can build what you want to build!

In this session, Miss Deb will give a hands-on demonstration on the parts, how to use ZOOB to build beginning-level models and more!

"The 1922 US Marine March Through Frederick" by Jim Rada

Local author, Jim Rada will be discussing his newest book _The Last to Fall: The 1922 March, Battles, & Deaths of U.S. Marines at Gettysburg_. In 1922, more than a quarter of the U.S. Marine Corps came through Frederick County on their way to Gettysburg. Along the way, the Marines were greeted by crowds and they camped at both the Frederick Fairgrounds and Hooker Lewis' farm in Thurmont going to and returning from Gettysburg. In Gettysburg, they conducted battle re-enactments both historically and with modern military equipment.

R.E.A.D. ® with Wags for Hope

Improve your reading skills and make a new friend by reading aloud to a specially trained "listening" animal! The Reading Education Assistance Dogs (R.E.A.D.) program works to improve children's reading and communication skills by providing registered therapy animals who volunteer with their owner/handler (as a team)to meet with and listen to children read.
*Allergy Alert! The dogs and cats are live animals.*
