Maryland Digital eLibrary Consortium in OverDrive
This service provides downloadable ebooks (as well as audiobooks) that can be used on computers, e-readers, and mobile devices. To learn about compatible devices, see OverDrive’s Device Resource Center: http://www.overdrive.com/resources/drc/
Like physical library books, patrons use their library cards to check out ebooks and only one person can check out each copy at the same time.
You need to log in to OverDrive with your library card to view the ebooks you have checked out, the holds you’ve placed in OverDrive, and the OverDrive Advantage program ebook copies available only to FCPL patrons.
On your computer, you need to install the free software Adobe Digital Editions to download ebooks to read or transfer to a device. If you’d like to read ebooks on a mobile device like a cell phone or tablet, you will need OverDrive Media Console instead.
You can check out a total of six items from OverDrive at one time, and can placeup to six holds. eBooks check out for up to 21 days, but can be returned early.
Library staff can answer some basic questions and help you find more information, but may not be able to answer all the questions specific to your device and cannot download ebooks onto your device for you.
