GSK Science in the Summer™: Chemistry Level I

GSK Science in the Summer™ will introduce students to Chemistry through interesting investigations that will allow them to explore physical and chemical changes, learn about "matter," make crystals, and determine if liquids are acids, bases, or neutrals. The four-hour program is held over two days. This is a free and fun experiment-oriented course taught by certified teachers to 15 students entering second and third grades.

Sciencetellers: Dragons and Dreams

In a faraway world with castles, kings, dragon keepers, ice sorceresses, and a powerful item known as the Horn of Fire, two villagers must take a daring journey to release the dragons and save the entire kingdom

Photography Basics for Kids

Grab your camera and your parents and come learn how to take great pictures! The Frederick Camera Clique is holding a free class on camera basics and composition. Come shoot with us along Carroll Creek. All camera types welcome, except cell phone cameras. If you have a digital camera, the Clique will print 2 copies of your best picture. You will get to take one copy home with you and the other copy will hang in the library for all to see for a month! All students must supply their own camera and be escorted by an adult. For ages 8-12. Maximum attendance is 20 kids.

Super Saturday: Animal Heroes and Friends

Meet Jodie a Guiding Eyes for the Blind dog in training and her best friend Amanda. Also, learn tips on proper animal care from our friends at the Emmitsburg Veterinary Clinic. Bring a photo of your family pet to post on our "SUPER" Pet display.

Soolah Hoops

Come join Soolah as she shares the joys of hula hooping. Kids will be entertained with a demonstration of hula hooping tricks with different kinds of hula hoops. Soolah will share her hoops, teaching kids how to hoop, how to do some tricks and play some games! Hoops will be provided. Please be sure your child is in comfortable clothing and has a water bottle to stay hydrated. Best for ages K-8

Take the LEGO® Robotic Challenge

LEGO® NXT robots feature a friendly code that tweens can understand. Join members of the RoboRangers 4-H Club as they work in small groups with participants to program a robot to run a specific mission. This STEM program is for children going into 4th and 5th grades. Registration required.
