Petite Playgroup at the Library!

Enjoy an hour of independent play during which you and your child can socialize with other parents, caregivers and children! Each playgroup will start with 15 minutes of stories, rhymes and songs led by your friendly children's librarian. The library will provide the space and a variety of educational toys to explore and share! For ages 0-3.

The Gettysburg Address-What it Means to Us

Join us we learn what the Gettysburg Address means and talk about why it is still relevant today - then pick up your copy, take it home, learn it, and return next week to be videoed reciting it as part of The Address - a national effort to record ordinary people reciting the Gettysburg Address.

World War 2 History Club

World War 2 history comes alive at the Thurmont Library. We will actively follow the role of the 101st Airborne Division beginning with jump training in the U.S. Additionally, we will follow "Easy" Company throughout their participation in major actions in Europe.
Due to the subject matter, this club is limited to late elementary - middle school age students. Enlist early!

Film Discussion - Almost Blue Mountain City: The History of Thurmont, Maryland

The Thurmont Center for Agricultural History and The Maryland Room are proud to introduce a new film by award-winning filmmaker, Chris Haugh. Over the last ten years, Mr. Haugh researched archives and interviewed local citizens sharing memories and stories about the significant manifestations of the town since its founding in 1751. Mr. Haugh recently won a local Emmy for the film “Heart of the Civil War.” He will share portions of the 3 hour documentary, share stories of the people he met during the filming as well as answer questions about the project.

Babies With Books: Birth to Twenty-Four Months
