Maryland State Parks Junior Rangers for 6 to 10 year olds

Park Rangers from Cunningham Falls State park bring this special program out of the park and into the library! Learn firsthand about what it takes to be a Junior Ranger and how to earn your patch by attending library and park programs. Your first step begins here! Participants in this session will receive priority registration for sessions 2, 3, and 4 at either C. Burr Artz Library or Thurmont Library. Can’t make it to the library sessions?

African-American Research and Preservation Symposium

In January, the Carrollton Manor Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution celebrated the publication of The Forgotten: The Middletown African Methodist Episcopal Cemetery. The result of 17 months of research, this volume provides source material on the individuals located in a largely undocumented burial ground. The Forgotten can be used for genealogy research, to track a community’s history, and to develop a deeper understanding of a segment of Frederick County’s African-American population.

Hero Stories: Meet a Park Naturalist & Animals

Get up close and personal animals from Catoctin Creek Park and Nature Center and learn about being a Park Naturalist. Every Hero has a Story, and your local Park Naturalist has plenty to share about plants and animals at Catoctin Creek Park and Nature Center. Registration required. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult as requested per Catoctin Creek Park and Nature Center.
