This 2013 Stonewall Honor book re-imagines the events of that night through poetry told from the perspectives of the fence he was tied to, a deer which stayed by his side, and “The Man in the Moon,” as well as others affected by the hate crime. Through the subject matter is difficult, the tribute is touching and ensures Matthew’s story will not be forgotten.
