Babies With Books: Birth to Twenty-Four Months

Learning to read begins BEFORE your child starts school - as a matter of fact, it begins at birth! Delight and stimulate your baby with songs, a story and activities. Get to know other families an help your baby develop listening and language skills. Tickets will be available on the day of the program for the first 15 parent/child pairs. This program is limited, so come early for your ticket.

Learn How to Talk to a Robot!

Behind every computer, app or robot there is someone who wrote the programs that told the device or app what to do. Join us for an hour of very beginning computer programming concepts as part of the National Computer Science Week's "Hour of Code" event and team up with others to test your skills in the language of computers. This session will be off-line. No previous coding skills needed.

Gingerbread House Contest

The holidays are a time to do things that celebrate and create traditions. We all have cherished memories of creating something beautiful to mark this special time of year. We think decorating a gingerbread house is a perfect way to craft new memories, and we’re hoping you’ll join us in celebrating the sweet traditions and beauty of the holiday season by entering our gingerbread house decorating contest!

To enter, pick up a rules/entry form with recipes at the Urbana Regional Library Children's Desk. The gingerbread houses will be judged by friendly library staff.

Is your curious toddler transitioning from baby to child? Transition to Twos nurtures this exciting time in your child’s development through books, movement, music and rhymes. We’ll begin learning to play with others, wait turns, and listen to stories, as well as dance, sing, laugh and have fun! This storytime is designed specifically for caregivers and children 18 months to 30 months. Registration is available two weeks before the monthly program series begins.
