Slim Harrison and the Sunnyland Band

As part of FCPL’s One Maryland, One Book celebration, Slim Harrison-Sunnyland Music will share the roots of American Folk music with children in an interactive, participatory jugband experience. Slim will share how different era’s and cultures have contributed to the music styles we now enjoy.

Enjoy the day in the countryside with an entertaining arts festival located on grass parkland next to the C&O Canal National Historical Park, Old Mainline of the B&O Railroad, and Potomac River. Artists, musicians, and demonstrators will be on hand - free admission, free adjacent parking, food, baked goods, & location will make a day’s outing enjoyable for both artists and visitors.

PBS Documentary Film Screening: “Latino Americans”

Join us for the part-three screening of the award-winning documentary film “Latino Americans,” followed by a talk-back session with scholar Leslie Barrett who holds an M.A. of Spanish & Latin American Studies. This is part of a special six part film discussion series supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities.
