Photography Basics for Kids

Grab your camera and your parents and come learn how to take great pictures! The Frederick Camera Clique is holding a free class on camera basics and composition. Come shoot with us along Carroll Creek. All camera types welcome, except cell phone cameras. If you have a digital camera, the Clique will print 2 copies of your best picture. You will get to take one copy home with you and the other copy will hang in the library for all to see for a month! All students must supply their own camera and be escorted by an adult. For ages 8-12. Maximum attendance is 20 kids.

The library is excited to be part of the University of Maryland’s Bat Acoustic Traveling Study research to determine bat activity and species in urban, suburban, and rural areas. PhD and undergraduate students will share information about all the good things bats do in our community and demonstrate how the bat detector box (with a microphone 20 feet up in the air!!) records high frequency bat calls. Live acoustic demonstrations and audience participation (weather permitting)!

Friday Movies: LEGO STAR WARS and Drop-In Play

GSK Science in the Summer™: Chemistry Level II

GSK Science in the Summer™ will introduce students to Chemistry through interesting investigations that will allow them to explore physical and chemical changes, learn about "matter," make crystals, and determine if liquids are acids, bases, or neutrals. The four-hour program is held over two days. This is a free and fun experiment-oriented course taught by certified teachers to 15 students entering fourth through sixth grades. REGISTRATION REQUIRED. PLEASE VISIT THE BRUNSWICK LIBRARY TO REGISTER.

TinkerTime - ZOOB 2.0!

ZOOB is an award-winning building set with a difference—the pieces move after you put them together. So you can play with your creations, instead of just looking at them. ZOOB is all about exploring, inventing, and discovering how you can build what you want to build!

In this session, Miss Deb will guide participants through making more advanced ZOOB creations with a free build at the end!

***PLEASE NOTE - For ages 6-12. This class is the second of three. You need to be registered for all three.***
