The Reading Education Assistance Dogs (R.E.A.D.) program improves children's reading and communication skills by employing a powerful method: reading to a dog or cat. But not just any dog or cat. R.E.A.D. pets are registered therapy animals who volunteer with their owner/handlers as a team, going to schools, libraries and many other settings as reading companions for children. The holidays are a time to do things that celebrate and create traditions. We all have cherished memories of creating something beautiful to mark this special time of year. We think decorating a gingerbread house is a perfect way to craft new memories, and we’re hoping you’ll join us in celebrating the sweet traditions and beauty of the holiday season by entering our gingerbread house decorating contest!

To enter, pick up a rules/entry form with recipes at the Urbana Regional Library Children's Desk. The gingerbread houses will be judged by friendly library staff.
