Join us for this special English Language Learner (ELL) Book Club, featuring titles that focus on Latino culture. Titles are selected by the Literacy Council of Frederick County and are at middle grade reading level. Our first discussion book is The House of Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros.

You will learn the 10 most important things you need to know about finding grants including:

-Who funds nonprofits and what are their motivations.
-What do funders really want to know about the organizations they
are interested in funding.
-How do you identify potential funders and make the first approach.

PBS Documentary Film Showing & Discussion: "Latino Americans"

Join us for the part one screening of the award-winning documentary film “Latino Americans,” followed by a talk-back session with scholar Leslie Barrett who holds an M.A. of Spanish & Latin American Studies. This is part of a special six part film discussion series supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Life is Good: The Book. Author visit by Bert & John Jacobs

In partnership with the Curious Iguana, Bert and John Jacobs will be talking about their new book, Life is Good: The Book, published by National Geographic Books in September, 2015. The authors wrote the book to share their story from growing up and facing many challenges in working class Boston to starting their own business selling t-shirts out of their van which turned into a $100 million clothing company. Bert & John Jacobs share inspiring stories and reveal what was behind their success: optimism. A book signing will follow the presentation.
