Are you ready for the Summer Reading Program? We are!

FCPL is pleased to announce that the 2014 Summer Reading Program has begun! Sign-up online at fcpl.org/summer then visit your local library branch to pick up your game board.

Our 2014 Summer Reading Program celebrates the summer with the “Fizz, Boom, Read!” theme for kids (babies – 5th grade) and the “Spark a Reaction” theme for teens (6th grade – college freshmen).

Our Summer Reading Family Festival to celebrate the beginning of Summer Reading is Saturday, May 10th, from 11:00am – 1:00pm at the Westview Promenade. Enjoy music and laughter with Mr. Jon & Friends, as well as kids’ crafts, games, and pictures with Curious George. We’ll have a special storytime with Miss Lesa, too! Bring your imagination and your dancing shoes to the Westview Promenade’s main courtyard from 11:00am – 1:00pm on Saturday, May 10th.

After the Summer Reading Family Festival the fun will continue all summer long with a variety of free programs for children, teens, and families. Awesome Animals, Gardening on the Terrace, Fun with Bubbles, Soolah Hoops, and visits from Peter Rabbit, Froggy, and other favorite characters are just a small sampling of what you can look forward to at your local library. For the full schedule of children’s Summer Reading programs and events at all of our branches please visit our Summer Reading page.

We also have an exciting line-up of teen programs and events at all of our branches. For the full schedule of Summer Reading programs for teens please visit the Spark a Reaction Teen Summer Reading page. And don’t forget, participants who register for the Summer Reading Program on or before August 9th are eligible to win prizes!

As always, the Summer Reading Program and all related activities and events are free and open to the public. We’d like to thank all of our community partners and sponsors who help make the Summer Reading Program possible for the kids and teens of Frederick County.
